How secure transfer works

Create a temporary listener and share its invite link or QR code. The other browser creates its own listener, then both peers exchange data over Tailcat's WireGuard-encrypted transport. Browser traffic currently uses DERP relay connectivity when a direct path is unavailable.

Private browser-based transfer

Text and file payloads stay between the two browsers. This site does not provide an account, message history, or cloud file storage for this tool. The invite is kept in the URL fragment and is not sent as an HTTP request parameter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the transfer end-to-end encrypted?

Yes. Tailcat provides the WireGuard-encrypted transport. DERP may relay packets, but it does not receive the application payload in plaintext.

Are my files stored on this website?

No. The website only serves the application and static Tailcat assets; transfer payloads are not uploaded to its backend.
